MONROEVILLE — Wynford’s volleyball season came to an end with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 loss Monday night at Monroeville in a Division IV sectional semifinal match. Lainey Holman led the No. 11 seed Royals (6-17) with six kills, 10 digs, 13 serve receptions and four blocks.

CAREY — The Carey Blue Devils dominated the Riverdale Falcons in Division IV first round tournament volleyball action Monday night. Carey never trailed in the match, beating the Falcons, 25-6, 25-9, 25-13. The Blue Devils (20-3) built big leads to start each set, allowing coach Eric Vackert to get a lot of players into the match. Many of those players made big contributions.

CAREY – Lawyer Stansberry became the second player in school history to reach 700 assists in a season as Carey topped McComb, 25-13, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16, on Saturday.

FINDLAY — Led by Juleigha Collier’s runner-up finish, the Riverdale girls cross country team took third place Saturday in the Blanchard Valley Conference championships at the Owens Community College Findlay campus. The Falcons finished with 76 points. Hopewell-Loudon won the championship, 32-44, over Liberty-Benton.

SUNBURY — The second day of the Division II state boys golf tournament Saturday was a frustrating one for many golfers at NorthStar Golf Club. That was true for Upper Sandusky’s Brett Montgomery, but the sophomore hung in just enough to hold on for a top-10 finish and an All-Ohio second-team finish.

COLUMBUS — Andrew Kuenzli came back from his Day 1 92 with a 90 on the second day of the Division III boys state golf tournament on the Ohio State University Scarlet Course. He shot a 44 on the front nine and a 46 on the back to finish tied for 51st place.

ATTICA — Upper Sandusky had a strong showing at the Northern 10 Athletic Conference cross country championships on Saturday. The Rams girls came in first place by 15 points, beating runner-up Colonel Crawford 44-59 while the boys had several runners set personal best times en route to a fourth-place finish with 108 points.

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – West Middlesex scored three touchdowns in the first 13 minutes, but Carey’s defense stood tough the rest of the night and the Blue Devils picked up their seventh win of the year, 28-18, on Saturday night in Pennsylvania.
