Upper athletes to get passes for all events

The Upper Sandusky Athletic Boosters has announced the creation of the Jim Morrison Athletic Pass. All student-athletes who participated in a spring or fall sport, or are currently participating in a winter sport will receive the pass that will be good for the remainder of the school year.

Steals, defensive intensity guide Rams to victory against Tigers

ATTICA — It’s something the Upper Sandusky boys basketball team does nearly every game, and during the Rams’ 74-50 victory over Seneca East on Saturday, it swung momentum in their favor and put them ahead for good. With the Rams trailing by five points with seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, Mason Vent buried a 3-pointer from the right wing.

2nd half surge, defense lift Carey

CAREY — Every year, the Carey girls basketball team schedules a few non-conference games against teams from the Blanchard Valley Conference. The Blue Devils have defeated Arcadia and Riverdale this year, but past losses to Liberty-Benton and Riverdale last season still sting.

Lacey helps Warriors snap skid against Royals

SYCAMORE — Ryan Lacey’s hot start was enough for Mohawk to end a long losing streak to Wynford, 49-43, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Lacey hit four of his six 3-pointers and scored 14 of his 20 points in the first quarter to lead the Warriors (4-2, 4-1 N10) on a night when shots were not falling for the rest of his teammates.

Evans scores 30 to carry Redmen past Falcons

BUCYRUS — Ryan Evans scored 30 points to lead Bucyrus to its first victory while keeping Riverdale winless, 68-64, in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Kyle Hamm added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Redmen (1-6), who got their first win under new coach Justin Mattix, an Upper Sandusky High School graduate.

Rams find shooting touch in 2nd half of win against Tigers

ATTICA — As soon as Upper Sandusky senior guards Megan Hensel and Abigail Fogle found their shot, there was no stopping the Rams. Royals get 2nd straight victory

SYCAMORE — After an 0-7 start, the Wynford girls basketball team is glad to call two straight victories a winning streak. Led by Olivia Grove’s 15 points, the Royals (2-7, 1-4 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) gradually pulled away for a 51-33 victory Friday night at Mohawk.
