SYCAMORE — Seneca East was determined not to let Mohawk leading scorer Zach Hayman beat them. So instead Keith Jenkins did, scoring 13 of his 21 points in a momentum-changing third quarter in the Warriors’ 60-54 victory in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball action Saturday night.

LIMA — Upper Sandusky advanced 15 swimmers and relays to districts during Division II sectional swimming competition Saturday at the Lima YMCA. The Rams boys took second place with 266 points, well behind champion Lima Shawnee with 453 points.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — After Ridgemont’s Priscilla Howland had been held scoreless in the first half with her team trailing 22-19, she found her stride and put up 24 second-half points against Riverdale Saturday afternoon, helping the Gophers to a 61-46 victory.

Upper Sandusky earned the top seed and a bye into the sectional final in the Division III Norwalk district tournament draw held Sunday. No. 8 seed Huron (5-11) and No. 12 Fostoria (3-14) meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Shelby, with the winner getting the Rams (16-3) at 6 p.m. March 2 at Shelby.

MANSFIELD — The Wynford swimming team completed its season Saturday in Division III sectionals at Mansfield Malabar. Aidan Beckley had the Royals’ highest finish, taking 14th place in the 200 IM in 2:58.40.

NEW WASHINGTON — After a big second quarter, Carey went cold in the second half and was knocked off, 53-47, by Buckeye Central on Saturday night in Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball action. The Blue Devils (12-6, 7-6 N10) scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 31-24 halftime lead, but they managed only 16 points in the second half.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Bluffton rallied past Riverdale in the fourth quarter to take a 51-45 victory in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night. The Falcons (4-16) came back from a slow start, trailing 15-5 after one quarter, to get within 24-21 at halftime and then taking a 34-32 lead after three quarters.

BUCYRUS — Josh Crall’s 25 points were not enough as Wynford fell 64-60 to River Valley in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night. Kevan Hughett added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Royals (7-11).

Abigail Fogle’s six 3-pointers. Megan Hensel’s triple double. Each of Tori Damron’s layups. Niki Young earning her first start. That is what all four seniors on the Upper Sandusky girls basketball team will remember from their 81-39 victory over Wynford on Friday at Upper Sandusky High School.

MORRAL — Free throws were the difference Friday night. In a game featuring a pair of teams that defend well but sometimes struggle to score, Ridgedale made 23 foul shots in 29 attempts to top Mohawk, 51-46, and assure itself a sixth-place finish in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball standings.
