Bucyrus’ Rister 1-hits Wynford

BUCYRUS — Once again, Bucyrus freshman Caleigh Rister had a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out 14 as the Bucyrus softball team defeated Wynford 7-0 on Thursday at Wynford High School. Bucyrus broke a scoreless tie by scoring one run in the fourth inning and added four more in the fifth and two in the seventh inning.

Van Buren rallies with 3-run 7th inning

VAN BUREN — Saige Warren completed a three-run seventh inning with a walk-off RBI single to rally Van Buren past Riverdale, 6-5, in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game Wednesday. After Riverdale (7-6, 5-3 BVC) scored three times in the top of the seventh inning, Kade Steveson’s two-run home run tied the game at 5.

Black Knights score 10 runs in 1st inning

VAN BUREN — The Riverdale softball team scored one run in each of the first two innings, but it wasn’t enough in a 13-2 run-rule loss to Van Buren on Wednesday. The Black Knights (8-5, 5-2 Blanchard Valley Conference) scored 10 runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third and had 13 hits.

SYCAMORE — For as long as she can remember, softball has been a part of Mohawk High School senior Hannah Jordan’s life. On Tuesday at Mohawk High School, Jordan, surrounded by coaches, teammates and her parents, ensured she would continue to play the sport she loves post high school as she signed her national letter of intent to play softball at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU).

TIFFIN — Not only did the Carey baseball team remain undefeated with a 6-0 victory over Tiffin Calvert on Tuesday, but the Blue Devils’ seniors set a new record. With the victory, the senior class became the class with the most wins throughout a career.

Riverdale girls win home tri-meet

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls track team finished first and the boys track team finished in a second-place tie at a tri meet at Riverdale on Monday. The Riverdale girls track team finished first with a team score of 79, while Arlington finished second with a team score of 49, edging out, Arcadia, which finished third with a total of 42.
