Physicals for $15 set for May 30 at USHS

Upper Sandusky High School and SportsCare at Wyandot Memorial Hospital are partnering to offer athletic physicals for high school and middle school athletes (entering seventh through 12th grades) on May 30. WMH staff and local optometrists will provide physical exams for a $15 donation to the USHS Athletic Department.

USHS seeks JV coaches

Upper Sandusky High School is searching for a junior varsity volleyball coach and junior varsity boys basketball coach for the 2018-19 school year. Interested candidates should contract Brad Ehrman at 419-294-1788 or brad_e@usevs.org.

USHS names HOF inductees

The Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Department has announced Pete Miller, Jacob Parsell and Robert “Hooker” Swartz as new members to the Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2018. The induction ceremony will be held Oct. 5 before the Upper Sandusky home varsity football game against Wynford.

Ridgedale to hire coaches

MORRAL — Ridgedale Local Schools has multiple supplemental openings for the 2018-19 school year. They include varsity assistant football coach, junior high cheerleading adviser (fall and winter), varsity assistant girls basketball coach, junior varsity girls basketball coach, seventh and eighth grade girls basketball coach and varsity assistant track coach.

FINDLAY — The Riverdale track and field teams qualified for regionals in two more events Saturday after qualifying for two on the first day of Division III district competition Thursday at Findlay. The Falcons’ girls 400 relay team of Alesha Martin, Mykennah Brandon, Libby Burd and Tayler Ashburn came in fourth in the 400 relay in 53.05, while Caleb McCoy took fourth place in the boys 100 dash in 11.76.

SHELBY — Four inches. That is approximately how far Lucas first baseman Liz Yirga’s game ending flyout came from tying the Division IV district final between the Mohawk and Lucas softball teams on Friday at Shelby. With the Warriors leading by four runs, starting pitcher Hannah Jordan retired the first two batters, but Erica Westfield hit an infield single and Frankie Depue reached on an error at third to bring up Morgan Spitler, who belted a two-run triple to deep left center.

FINDLAY — If Carey could have kept it a close game going into the bottom of the seventh, it might have a chance for yet another dramatic comeback. But the Blue Devils’ mistakes finally caught up to them in a seven-run seventh inning as North Baltimore gave itself plenty of cushion to knock off the top-seeded and state No. 2 team, 10-3, in a Division IV district final Friday at the Findlay Marathon Diamonds.
