KENTON — Riverdale’s girls were fourth and the boys 10th in the Kenton Kyle Althauser Invitational on Thursday at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. Columbus Grove won the girls title with 31 points, with Wapakoneta second with 68 points. Kenton topped the Falcons, 78-94, for third place.

Cory-Rawson snapped Upper Sandusky’s three-match winning streak with a 4-2 victory in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match Wednesday evening. The Hornets (3-5-4, 1-2-1 NCOSA) outscored the Rams (5-6-2, 0-2-1 NCOSA) 2-1 in each half.

VAN BUREN — Gabby Gearhart scored barely six minutes into the match and that was enough for Van Buren to stay tied atop the girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association standings with a 1-0 victory against Riverdale on Wednesday.

GALION — Macy Mewhorter finished seventh in 11:57.80 to lead Upper Sandusky’s junior high girls to the championship in the Crestline Invitational on Tuesday at Amman’s Reservoir Park. The Rams edged Colonel Crawford, 80-83, with Fredericktown (84) and Cardington-Lincoln (90) close behind in a highly competitive event.

Three new members will be inducted into the Upper Sandusky High School Athletic Hall of Fame before the start of the Upper Sandusky-Wynford varsity football game on Friday. Pete Miller, Jacob Parsell and Robert “Hooker” Swartz are the new USHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.

BUCYRUS — Even after letting an 11-point deficit slip in the second set, dropping the third and fourth sets and letting the decisive fifth set carry beyond 15 points, another opportunity for redemption awaited the Carey volleyball team.

Buckeye Central finished strong to erase a nine-point third-set deficit in a 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of Upper Sandusky in Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball play Tuesday night.

SYCAMORE — Madi Chester and Kaylee Ward each had 13 kills as Mohawk cruised to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-16 victory against Bucyrus in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday night.

RAWSON — Brooke Swavel’s first career goal made Upper Sandusky a 2-1 winner against Cory-Rawson on Tuesday in a girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association match. Swavel finished a pass from Audrey Boes near the goal with 11:47 remaining.

BELLEVUE — For the second straight day, Upper Sandusky swept doubles competition but was swept in singles in a 3-2 loss to Bellevue on Tuesday. Using a modified lineup with their best players competing in doubles, the Rams (4-11) got a 7-5, 6-2 win from Jodi Smalley and Mara Smalley against Leighann Motley and Alivia Hamons in the No. 1 doubles match.
