St. Paul 2 wins regular season championship

One win was enough for St. Paul Lutheran Lutheran Church 2 to finish as the regular season champion in the Wyandot County Dartball League. St. Paul 2 won the opener 5-4 and dropped the next two games 6-0 and 1-0 on Thursday but finished a game ahead of Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville, which also went 1-2 in the final week.

CALEDONIA — Wynford nearly erased a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit but hot-shooting River Valley was almost perfect at the foul line and did not let it happen. The Vikings connected on 13 3-pointers and made their first 19 free throws before missing their final attempt, holding off the Royals in a 94-88 shootout of a nonconference boys basketball game Wednesday night.

LIMA — Riverdale had the momentum going into halftime of its Division IV girls sectional basketball contest against Cory-Rawson on Tuesday night, The Hornets wasted little time in stealing it back in the second half as they pulled away for a 52-40 victory over the Falcons at Bath.

There will be a first-time accomplishment and a first event when the Upper Sandusky girls 200 medley relay team of Katie Conley, Abbey Wenger, Kami Swartz and Maya Collins race at the state swim meet Thursday. The Upper Sandusky girls 200 medley relay team is the first girls relay team in the history of Upper Sandusky High School to qualify for the state swim meet.
