One win was enough for St. Paul Lutheran Lutheran Church 2 to finish as the regular season champion in the Wyandot County Dartball League. St. Paul 2 won the opener 5-4 and dropped the next two games 6-0 and 1-0 on Thursday but finished a game ahead of Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville, which also went 1-2 in the final week.

CALEDONIA — Wynford nearly erased a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit but hot-shooting River Valley was almost perfect at the foul line and did not let it happen. The Vikings connected on 13 3-pointers and made their first 19 free throws before missing their final attempt, holding off the Royals in a 94-88 shootout of a nonconference boys basketball game Wednesday night.

MONROEVILLE — Upper Sandusky senior guard Alivia Oney called it the Upper Sandusky girls basketball team’s biggest comeback since they erased a 24-point deficit against Riverdale two years ago. Fellow senior guard Alexis Fogle concurred.

KANSAS — Mohawk broke the school record for wins in a season with an 85-28 blowout of Lakota in a nonconference boys basketball game Wednesday night in Kansas. The Warriors (20-1) topped the previous mark they set last year when they finished 19-7.

Riverdale’s Brooke Kuenzli and Bry Vanden Bosch earned honorable mention on the All-Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball teams. Vanden Bosch, a senior forward, averages 9.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game and has shot 68.7 percent from the foul line.

SHELBY — Mohawk struggled to put points on the board for most of the first half, but a flurry of points near the end of the second quarter finally got it going and led the way to a 45-20 victory against Mansfield Christian in a Division IV sectional semifinal game Tuesday night at Shelby.

LIMA — Riverdale had the momentum going into halftime of its Division IV girls sectional basketball contest against Cory-Rawson on Tuesday night, The Hornets wasted little time in stealing it back in the second half as they pulled away for a 52-40 victory over the Falcons at Bath.

SYCAMORE — Upper Sandusky won its fourth straight Northern 10 Athletic Conference junior high wrestling championship Saturday at Mohawk. Mohawk finished second, while Carey was fifth.

CAREY — Carey missed three times on the final possession but Hayden Stone was there for the final putback just before the buzzer as the Blue Devils topped Fostoria 66-65 in overtime in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

There will be a first-time accomplishment and a first event when the Upper Sandusky girls 200 medley relay team of Katie Conley, Abbey Wenger, Kami Swartz and Maya Collins race at the state swim meet Thursday. The Upper Sandusky girls 200 medley relay team is the first girls relay team in the history of Upper Sandusky High School to qualify for the state swim meet.
