Hopewell-Loudon defense shuts down Carey FREMONT — Carey was not about to let All-Ohio 6-foot-3 sophomore Makayla Elmore beat them Saturday night. Instead, Olivia Zender and Hopewell-Loudon’s defense did in a 45-21 Chieftains victory in a Division IV sectional final at Fremont Ross. The Blue Devils held Elmore to 2 points in the first half, but Zender finished with four 3-pointers and 17 points on the night while Carey made just 4 of 22 shots in the first three quarters, not reaching double digits until a putback at the third-quarter buzzer.
