Warriors win 1-0 in 11

SYCAMORE — It took 11 innings before a run was finally scored, but Mohawk stayed unbeaten on Trey Combs’ walk-off RBI single in a 1-0 victory against Colonel Crawford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Friday at Mohawk.

SYCAMORE — A rally came up short and Mohawk lost its first softball game of the season, 10-8, against Colonel Crawford on Friday in Sycamore. Both teams scored four times in the first inning, but the Eagles (2-5, 1-4 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) added two runs in the second and four more in the fourth for a 10-5 lead.

Carey girls win title at Van Buren

VAN BUREN — Carey ran away with the girls championship Friday in the Doug Mowery Invitational track and field meet at Van Buren. The Blue Devils girls scored 163 points, followed by Van Buren with 121 points and Arlington with 120.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Andrew Kuenzli and Riverdale continued their hot streaks as the Falcons defeated Kenton 4-0 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Riverdale. Kuenzli had a hit in his 10th consecutive at-bat during a three-run first inning for the Falcons (4-1).

Above: The Upper Sandusky boys tennis team took 19 players and four coaches to an Ohio State University men’s tennis match against Michigan State University. The Rams went out to eat beforehand and were able to tour the Varsity Tennis Center at Ohio State, including the recruiting room and the team locker room.

Local players named to Academic All-Ohio team

Zach Hayman

Upper Sandusky’s Alivia Oney, Riverdale’s Alec Loveridge and Mohawk’s Zach Hayman all earned Academic All-Ohio honors by the Ohio HIgh School Basketball Coaches Association. Oney was one of 10 seniors from across the state named to the girls basketball Division II team. The All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference second team pick averaged 10.7 points per game and has a 3.99 GPA. …
