FINDLAY — Miles Frey captured the 145-pound championship to lead Riverdale in the Blanchard Valley Conference tournament Saturday at Liberty-Benton. Frey had a first-period pin in his semifinal match and then pinned Van Buren’s Grant Young in 2:33 in the championship match.

CAREY — Hayden Stone had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead Carey to a 67-55 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday evening.

BUCYRUS — Josh Crall scored 31 points but it was not enough as Seneca East defeated Wynford 65-52 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night.

SYCAMORE — Aubrie Harper was scorching the nets early, and after dealing with some foul trouble, she came back to light it up late to help Mohawk hold off Ridgedale 40-31 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Friday night.

BOWLING GREEN — This time, it seems Upper Sandusky senior Abbey Wenger hopes will be joined by her friends and teammates at the state meet. Wenger, a state qualifier as a junior last season, was a member of the 200 medley relay team of Katie Conley, Kami Swartz and Maya Collins that finished seventh in 1:53.32 in the Division II district Friday at Bowling Green State University, putting them in good position to qualify for state.

BUCYRUS — Wynford’s Olivia Grove couldn’t have pictured a better senior night. In the final regular season game of her career, Grove, who recently was named first team All-District 6 in Division IV, scored a game-high 18 points to lead a strong team effort by the Royals in a dominant 53-26 victory over Upper Sandusky on Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference basketball game at Wynford

VAN BUREN — The Riverdale boys basketball team entered Van Buren High School Friday clinging to hope it could still earn a tie for the Blanchard Valley Conference title, but those hopes were dashed in a 54-43 loss to the Black Knights.

BUCYRUS — The Carey girls basketball team finished its regular season with a victory, defeating Bucyrus 59-37 Friday night in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference game at Bucyrus.

SYCAMORE — While growing up, Mohawk senior guard Zach Hayman always knew who the leading scorer in Mohawk boys basketball history, George Amlin, was. Amlin, scored 1,097 points from 1960-63. Now, Hayman will be able to look up and see his name on the wall as the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer.

Mohawk’s Paul Dunn was honored as Division IV coach of the year, and the Warriors’ Zach Hayman was among five first-team selections on the All-District 6 boys basketball team. Upper Sandusky’s Mason Vent and Cameron McCreary, Wynford’s Josh Crall and Carey’s Hayden Stone all earned first-team selections in Division III.
