CAREY — Former Carey softball player Lacie Sherman now has company. Carey shortstop Hailey Niederkohr, who had already been named to the All-Ohio list as a freshman and sophomore, recently garnered first-team All-Ohio honors from the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.

Brett and Brock Montgomery both came out on top in their divisions in the season-opening Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Brett Montgomery shot a 72, including an even-par 36 on each of his nine-hole rounds. He tallied six birdies on the day, including twice each on Nos. 5 and 7.

Three of five area schools are moving up a division in football this coming fall. Upper Sandusky is back up to Division IV, Wynford jumps up to Division V, and Riverdale takes a step up to Division VI. Carey remains in VI and Mohawk in VII.

FOSTORIA — The annual Fostoria Athletic Boosters East-West All-Star Football game is 7 p.m. June 15 at Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased from players or at the gate.

The majority of the Crawford/Wyandot County All-Star team participating in District 9 All-Star baseball action is made up of local players at 7 p.m. June 20. Seniors expected to participate include Upper Sandusky’s Jason Holly, Brenyn Marquart and Parker Frombaugh, Carey’s Jordan Dasher and Dylan Grothaus, Mohawk’s Cole Widmer and Tanner Osborn, and Wynford’s Noah Smith.
