KENTON — Riverdale finished in the middle of the standings, taking third place Saturday in the Hardin County Invitational golf tournament at Veterans Memorial Park Golf Course.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Sarah Reinhart was runner-up, and Carey finished second as a team in the Gray Division of the Columbus Grove Bulldog Invitational on Saturday at Clymer Stadium.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky’s boys and Wynford’s girls both took fifth place in the Bucyrus Elks Invitational on Saturday at the Crawford County Fairgrounds.

CALEDONIA — Jaidyn Thiel scored three times, including twice in the second half, to help the Upper Sandusky boys soccer team rally for a 3-3 draw against River Valley on Saturday at River Valley.

BELLEVUE — Brett Montgomery was medalist for the third straight year in the Bellevue Home Savings Invitational, and Upper Sandusky finished one stroke out of first place Saturday at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

This time, the River Valley football team didn’t turn the ball over six times. Instead, the Vikings rushed 38 times for 318 yards and intercepted two passes in their 40-18 victory over Upper Sandusky on Friday at Upper Sandusky.

FINDLAY — Wynford faced a pair of two-score deficits and didn’t fold, but in the end, it made too many mistakes. Liberty-Benton capitalized on five Royals turnovers and held on for a 34-29 victory Friday night at Liberty-Benton.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale hung tough with rival Arlington early in head football coach Britton Devier’s debut game, but Arlington pulled away in the second half to easily defeat the Falcons 46-7 Friday.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk first-year head coach Eric Daniel knew his young team chalk full of new starters would have their hands full in containing Lakota star running back Trevor Franks. But Warriors proved they were up for the test as they withstood an early punch from the Raiders and held Franks to just 57 yards on the ground for the game rolling to a decisive 33-8 victory on Friday night.

LEIPSIC — Carey hung tough with one of the state’s strongest teams in Division VII, but the Blue Devils came up short in their 2019 debut 28-20 against Leipsic on Friday at Leipsic. Carey fell behind by two scores early when Leipsic, one of the Blanchard Valley Conference’s top teams, scored on rushing touchdowns of 6 and 45 yards from senior tailback and three-year letter-winner Cole Williamson.
