Upper Sandusky needs volunteers for Icebreaker

Upper Sandusky High School is searching for volunteers to work the finish line in the Icebreaker Invitational cross country meet at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at Harrison Smith Park. Volunteers are needed from 5-6:45 p.m. If interested, contact Brad Ehrman at brad_e@usevs.org or 419-294-1788.

Kendra Conley medaled with a 52 to lead Upper Sandusky’s girls golf team to its first dual win of the season, 231-236 against Seneca East on Monday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Katie Clark added a 59, while Olivia Barth, Haley Rowland and Liv Gier all shot 60s for the Rams (1-1, 1-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference). MacKenzie Kidwell carded a 68.

BUCYRUS — Brett Montgomery medaled with a 74 as Upper Sandusky finished just three strokes back of champion Galion and took third place Monday in the Bucyrus Elks Invitational at The Golf Club of Bucyrus. Galion won the tournament with a 334, while Seneca East edged Upper Sandusky 336-337 for second place. Wynford was seventh with a 407. Mohawk’s results were not available.

Carey wins tri over New Riegel, H-L

FOSTORIA — Mckain Miller medaled with a 39 to lead Carey to a boys golf tri-match victory against Hopewell-Loudon and New Riegel on Monday at Loudon Meadows Golf Course. Ethan Tanner shot a 43, Carter Frederick had a 45, and Peyton Young and Brayden Miller both had 47s. Kole Phillips finished with a 48 for the Blue Devils (3-0).

Kuenzli medals but Falcons 3rd in tri

KENTON — Andrew Kuenzli medaled with a 39, but Riverdale finished third in a boys golf tri-match Monday at Memorial Park Golf Course. Kenton took first place with a 179, with Pandora-Gilboa topping Riverdale 192-203 for second place.

Beau Hahn hit his first career hole-in-one Tuesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The feat came with a 7-iron on the 166-yard par 3 No. 2 and was witnessed by Eric Ward, Eric Passet and Brian Gottfried.

Tanner’s 39 leads Carey past Riverdale

ARLINGTON — In its first dual match of the season, Carey came away a 172-183 winner and handed Riverdale its first defeat of the year Friday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. The Blue Devils (1-0) got a 39 from Ethan Tanner, a 41 from Mckain Miller, a 45 from Kole Phillips and 47s from both Carter Frederick and Brayden Miller. Peyton Young shot a 52.
