The Upper Sandusky Elks recently held its annual Hoop Shoot at Upper Sandusky Middle School. The program was started in 1946 to promote focus, hard work and perseverance in youth.

Upper soccer to have skills clinic in winter

The Upper Sandusky High School boys soccer coaches and players will be holding a winter/spring skills clinic for boys in third through eighth grades from 5-6 p.m. Sundays from Jan. 6 through March 17 in the high school gym. The cost is $6, which includes a T-shirt.

USMS to honor military during Jan. 17 games

The OHSAA has deemed Jan. 18 as military appreciation night at high schools across the state of Ohio.  Upper Sandusky Middle School is a willing participant in this program, and while it does not have a game Jan. 18, nor is it a high school, it still will honor our military, both past and present. 

Upper edges Carey

For Cade Crawford of the Carey boys basketball team, the look for a game winning, buzzer-beating 3-pointer was there. With the Blue Devils trailing by one point with 7.6 seconds remaining in their first matchup with Upper Sandusky, Crawford received an inbounds pass and dribbled near the key, where he launched a desperation 3-pointer.

Mohawk holds on with several late stops

NORTH ROBINSON — Mohawk’s offense had plenty of chances to put away a big win, but it ultimately had to turn to its defense to get the job done Saturday night. Mohawk got four stops of Colonel Crawford in the final 45 seconds and held on for a 49-48 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Leading Riverdale by 10 points after a basket by Lindsey Smith early in the third quarter, the Kenton girls basketball team looked to be on the way to its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons — more specifically Brooke Kuenzli — had other ideas.

Rams teams win swim titles in Fremont

FREMONT — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls took the championships Saturday in the Fremont St. Joseph Winter Invitational at Fremont Ross. The Rams girls won big, topping Norwalk 328-266 for first place, while the boys’ margin was smaller, 293-269, over Huron.
