Wynford’s Jacob Beaschler finished second in the 12 and younger age group of Tuesday’s Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

Riverdale’s Taylor Farmer repeated as All-Daily Chief-Union softball player of the year, and Carey’s Teresa Jacoby was coach of the year for the second time in three years. Farmer, a senior pitcher, edged Carey senior shortstop and pitcher Sydney Wentling in player of the year voting in which five different players received votes.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Mark Gillfillan 5K Memorial Run and Walk will be held at 7 p.m. June 24 at Riverdale Schools. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

Girls basketball camp was held last week at Upper Sandusky High School. Foul shooting champions were Sierra Shasteen, fourth grade; Logan Kennedy, fifth grade; and Alyse Swartz, sixth grade.

Mohawk’s Austin Harper was the unanimous player of the year, while his coach, Eric Hoover, won a close vote for coach of the year to lead the All-Daily Chief-Union baseball team.

The 2004-05 Upper Sandusky High School state championship boys basketball will be the only inductee this fall into the USHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky Black Marlins summer swim team began its season with the boys defeating the Bucyrus White Sharks, 227-59, and the Upper Sandusky girls getting edged, 191-153. The Black Marlins won the combined score, 380-250.

FREMONT — Riverdale High School graduate Kory Kotterman tied for first in an Ohio Amateur qualifier Thursday at Fremont Country Club. The Wharton native shot a 72 to tie for first place first Lima’s Phillip Trueblood and Rockford’s Jordan Bollenbacher.
