Riverdale’s Farmer, Carey’s Jacoby take top softball honors

Riverdale’s Taylor Farmer repeated as All-Daily Chief-Union softball player of the year, and Carey’s Teresa Jacoby was coach of the year for the second time in three years. Farmer, a senior pitcher, edged Carey senior shortstop and pitcher Sydney Wentling in player of the year voting in which five different players received votes.

Upper boys win 1st summer swim meet

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky Black Marlins summer swim team began its season with the boys defeating the Bucyrus White Sharks, 227-59, and the Upper Sandusky girls getting edged, 191-153. The Black Marlins won the combined score, 380-250.

USHS grads in Europe

A pair of Upper Sandusky High School graduates toured Europe with the Bowling Green State University volleyball team. Jessi Holly (left) is a 2016 USHS graduate a freshman at BGSU, and Megan Horn (right) is a 2002 USHS grad and an academic adviser for the BGSU volleyball team.

Riverdale grad qualifies for Ohio Amateur

FREMONT — Riverdale High School graduate Kory Kotterman tied for first in an Ohio Amateur qualifier Thursday at Fremont Country Club. The Wharton native shot a 72 to tie for first place first Lima’s Phillip Trueblood and Rockford’s Jordan Bollenbacher.
