Soccer sign-up due by Friday

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore Soccer League is accepting registrations through Friday. Area players who turn age 5 by Aug. 1 through eighth grade are welcomed for the recreational league.

Beaschler cards 47 for second at HOJGA tourney in Kenton

KENTON — Wynford’s Jacob Beaschler was second in the 12-and-under division of the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Kenton on Thursday. Beaschler shot a nine-hole 47, including two pars, for second place behind Marion Pleasant’s Minoy Shah, who shot 44 to top the field.

Tree Town Fest set for tonight

FOREST — The 2016 Tree Town Festival to be held tonight through Sunday at Gormley Park in Forest will hold various athletic events for festival-goers to participate in again this year. Events include the Tree Town Trot 5K, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a 4-on-4 volleyball tournament and a fishing derby.

National medalist

Grace Swartz, 12, who will be a seventh grader at Upper Sandusky Middle School this fall, received three medals while competing in the YMCA Gymnastics Nationals on Friday in Long Beach, California. Competing for the Zero Gravity gymnastics team from the Tiffin Community YMCA, Swartz won medals in the beam, vault and floor.
