Rockets finish strong in win over Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Pandora-Gilboa was strong in the final two sets to take a 25-21, 17-25, 25-13, 25-17 victory against Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match Wednesday night. Carrol Pauley was 29-of-30 hitting with 10 kills, and Jessica Johnston went 36-of-44 hitting with eight kills for the Falcons (9-10, 4-6 BVC).

Mohawk finishes strong in 3-1 win

SYCAMORE — For a moment, it looked as though Tuesday was Wynford’s night. The Royals had Mohawk down a set and were nipping at the home team’s heels in the second frame when Destini Oler layed down a strong kill from the left side.

Hayden leads Rams to sweep

ATTICA — Kenedi Hayden had nine kills as Upper Sandusky swept Seneca East, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday night. “The girls played really well and didn’t give up,” Upper Sandusky coach Kerri Thiel said.

Ada scores final 3 goals for 4-1 win

ADA — With the match tied at 1, Terry Sheridan scored three times in the final 56 minutes to give Ada a 4-1 victory against Upper Sandusky on Tuesday in a boys North Central Ohio Soccer Association match. Logan Williams put the Bulldogs (7-4, 3-2 NCOSA) ahead, 1-0, in the seventh minute before Cameron Brady tied it for the Rams (4-8-1, 2-3 NCOSA) midway through the first half.

Upper junior high CC teams take 2nd

GALION — Upper Sandusky’s boys and girls junior high cross country teams both finished second Tuesday in the Crestline Invitational at Amman’s Park. Fredericktown’s boys won with ease with 38 points, while Upper Sandusky edged Perrysville, 115-117, for second.

Upper Sandusky’s home volleyball matches against Mohawk will begin at 9 a.m. in the USHS gymnasium. The junior varsity match will start at 9 a.m., with the varsity match to follow.

Upper narrowly takes tourney tune-up

Paige Burger won in three sets to give Upper Sandusky a 3-2 victory against Ontario in its regular season girls tennis finale Monday. “I am so happy with the girls’ effort and our record of 14-2,” Upper Sandusky coach Aaron Frazee said.

Van Buren outlasts Riverdale volleyball

VAN BUREN – Van Buren held off Riverdale in the fourth set to avoid a decisive fifth set in a 21-25, 25-8, 25-17, 26-24 victory in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match Monday. Carrol Pauley led the Falcons (9-9, 4-5 BVC) on the attack with 15 kills, while Jessica Johnson had 10 kills and Cara Pauley finished with seven.
