State-ranked McComb wins over Riverdale in straight sets

McCOMB — State-ranked McComb defeated Riverdale, 25-10, 25-13, 25-6, in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match Wednesday. Carrol Pauley led the Falcons (5-6, 3-3 BVC) on offense with five kills on 34-of-36 hitting, while Jessica Johnston and Bry VandenBosch both finished with three kills.

Elida defeats Riverdale girls, 4-0

ELIDA — Four different players scored in Elida’s 4-0 victory against Riverdale in a non-conference girls soccer match Wednesday night. Cienna Kuhn, Jaqueline Nichols, Hope Carter and Jaydon Hollstein had goals for the Wildcats (5-2-1).

USHS to have Senior Citizens Night Sept. 27

Sept. 27 is Senior Citizen Night as Upper Sandusky High School hosts Ridgedale in junior varsity and varsity volleyball action. All senior citizens will receive free admission to both matches and a coupon for a free drink and popcorn from the concession stand.

Carey wins long 1st set, sweeps

CAREY — Carey won a marathon first set and went on to sweep Seneca East, 32-30, 25-23, 25-19, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference match Tuesday night. Sydney Kin had 22 kills on 49-of-55 hitting and added four blocks, while Hannah Zimmerman finished with eight kills on 27-of-30 hitting and added a team-best 20 digs.

Eagles top Rams in N10 match

NORTH ROBINSON — Colonel Crawford took over sole possession of fourth place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference at its midway point in the season with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 victory against Upper Sandusky on Tuesday night.

N10-leading BC sweeps Wynford

BUCYRUS — League-leading Buckeye Central asserted itself in the first set and took a 25-10, 25-18, 25-16 victory against Wynford in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday night. Tara Zinser led the Royals (4-9, 3-5 N10) with six kills on 19-of-23 hitting, while Gabby Grove and Olivia Grove each had four kills.

Oler, Thiery lead Warriors to win

GIBSONBURG — Destini Oler and Addie Thiery each finished with 13 kills as Mohawk topped Gibsonburg, 25-13, 25-27, 25-15, 25-16, in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night. Madi Chester and Emily Conner both had eight kills, Kaylee Ward finished with six kills, and Chelsey Trusty had five kills for the Warriors (11-2).
