The Falcons were never able to recover from their slow start against the Wildcats, falling 55-28 in non-conference boys basketball action.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central held off visiting Carey, 56-48, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Thursday. The Bucks (7-2, 4-1 N10) led 15-13 after the first quarter, 34-25 at halftime and 45-34 after three quarters.

ARCADIA — Carey defeated Arcadia, 48-24, and Lucas, 76-6, on Thursday evening at Arcadia. Jevyn Pratt had a pair of pins for the Blue Devils, one at 126 pounds and the other at 132, and Tanner May had pins in both of his matches at 182 pounds.

LIMA — Upper Sandusky’s boys swim team placed fifth out of 19 schools and its girls team was ninth out of 18 schools in the Lima Holiday Classic at Lima Central Catholic on Tuesday. Celina topped Lima Shawnee, 349-300, for first place in boys competition.

FAIRBORN — Upper Sandusky’s Noah Clary and Connor Johnston and Mohawk’s Cole Draper all finished third to lead area wrestlers in Wednesday’s conclusion of the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Tournament.

BELLEVUE — Upper Sandusky’s 3-point barrage would have dismantled most defenses Tuesday night. Bellevue simply wasn’t up to challenge in a non-league boys basketball game.

TIFFIN — An earlier-than-normal start and a holiday weekend may have contributed to a slow start for Upper Sandusky in a non-league game against former Northern Ohio League foe Tiffin Columbian on Tuesday. But after shaking off the candy canes and Christmas ham, the Rams steamrolled the Tornadoes, 74-43.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Holding an eight-point lead with under two minutes remaining, Riverdale had to fend off a late surge from Bucyrus to hold on for a 53-51 boys basketball victory Tuesday night. The win lifts the Falcons to 2-4 overall, while Bucyrus falls to 1-6.

FAIRBORN — Upper Sandusky is seventh and Mohawk is 12th among small schools in the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Wrestling Tournament that began Tuesday at Wright State University’s Nutter Center.

SYCAMORE — Brandon Flood scored 18 points, but Hopewell-Loudon ran away with a 55-40 victory against Mohawk a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday night. The Chieftains (7-1) led 12-8 after one quarter.
