Carey sets Upper career assists record

Megan Hensel’s third career hat trick was only the second biggest milestone in Upper Sandusky’s 6-0 girls soccer victory over Toledo Christian at the USHS football stadium Tuesday during the Rams senior game. Hensel’s first goal came just more than a minute into the contest off a landmark assist by Sierra Carey. Carey centered the ball for her teammate to record her 29th career assist, passing 2015 graduate Jaime Calvin for a new program record.

Royals finish 8th in girls golf sectional

GALION — Wynford finished in eighth place Tuesday in the Division II sectional girls golf tournament at Valley View Golf Course. The top three teams, plus the top three individuals from non-advancing teams, qualify for next week’s district tournament.

Rams even N10 record with sweep

Alaney Oney had nine kills to lead Upper Sandusky to a 26-24, 25-10, 25-17 victory against Upper Sandusky on Tuesday night. Oney added two aces and six digs while finishing 21-of-23 hitting.

Eagles top Royals after dropping 1st set

BUCYRUS — Colonel Crawford came back after losing the first set to defeat Wynford, 18-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday. Tara Zinser led Wynford (6-11, 4-7 N10) at the net with 14 kills, with Jenna Coffman and Macey Zinser each recording four.

Falcons fall 1-0

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale and Fort Jennings combined for only four shots on goal, but the Musketeers needed only one to take a 1-0 victory in a boys soccer match Tuesday. Derek Luersman scored unassisted at the 11:08 mark in the first half, and it stood as the only goal of the match — and only shot on goal for his team.

Rams down Senecas, 4-1

TIFFIN — Upper Sandusky beat the darkness and beat Tiffin Calvert, 4-1, in girls tennis action Tuesday. With the match not starting until 5:15 p.m. at Heidelberg University, and with one match going three sets, the Rams (13-2) finished up shortly before sunset.

Brady scores 4

OLD FORT — Cameron Brady scored four goals and Seth Lortz had a goal and assisted on three as the Upper Sandusky boys soccer team took a 7-4 victory against Old Fort on Tuesday in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match.

Carey has strong close to each set

CAREY — When Upper Sandusky pushed, Carey pushed back; and the Blue Devils pushed quite a bit harder. Carey ran away with the first two sets of a 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 victory against the Rams to improve to 8-0 at home.
