LANCASTER — Emery Pahl led Upper Sandusky as it finished its junior high cross country season Saturday in the OHSAA Middle School/Junior High State Meet at Lancaster High School.

The All-Daily Chief-Union team’s top honors match those of the All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference golf team. Mohawk’s Dave Myers is coach of the year, while Upper Sandusky freshman Brett Montgomery is player of the year.

SYCAMORE — Playing the last half of the match without leading hitter Addie Thiery, Mohawk had other players step up in a 25-15, 24-26, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11 Division III sectional champion victory against Western Reserve on Saturday.

GALION — Carey’s boys won the district championship, and the girls were runner-up to advance to regional competition Saturday in district cross country action at Amann’s Reservoir Park.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale dominated the first half of a Division III girls soccer district quarterfinal Saturday against Cory-Rawson. But after 40 minutes, the Falcons only led 1-0.

FINDLAY — Riverdale’s girls cross country team is advancing to regionals for what is believed to be the first time in school history, and Antonio Renteria will join the Falcons.

By now, the Wynford Royals are more than just the best team and only champion in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference. They more closely resemble a machine when they step on the football field for a league game, and they were pretty efficient in a 53-0 win at Upper Sandusky on Friday night to clinch a share of their third straight title since the N10 originated in 2014.

MORRAL — With a comfortable lead, Mohawk had a chance to do a few different things in the second half of Friday night’s game at Ridgedale. Not only did a lot of young players get extended playing time, but the Warriors took advantage of the situation to get a touchdown for lineman Cole Draper in their 47-0 victory that clinched at least a .500 season.

CAREY — Within a matter of moments, Carey put away visiting Bucyrus on Friday night. The Blue Devils scored touchdowns on their first four possessions, including off two straight takeaways, on their way to a 63-28 rout against the winless Redmen in a Northern 10 game at Wentling Field.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Van Buren scored four second-quarter touchdowns to secure a 41-7 win over Riverdale in a Blanchard Valley Conference football game Friday.
