Kin, Konkle get 1st-team honors

Carey’s Sydney Kin and Mohawk’s Alexa Konkle were named first-team All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference volleyball selections. Kin, a senior middle hitter, is the league’s leading hitter, averaging 4.8 kills per set with a .365 hitting efficiency, and leading blocker at 1.12 per set.

Blue Devils rally past Red Devils

FINDLAY — Carey faced a 2-1 deficit and then a 13-11 hole in the fifth set against Arlington, but Blue Devils coach Eric Vackert said he remained confident. Carey showed why. It won the last two sets, including the final four points of the fifth set to rally for a 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 15-13 victory Monday night against Arlington in a Division IV district semifinal match at Findlay High School.

Gillig, Kirian lift New Riegel to win

FINDLAY — With a chance to force a fifth set, Mohawk held a 23-20 lead, but New Riegel rallied to knock off the Warriors in four, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 26-24, in a Division IV district semifinal match Monday night at Findlay High School.

Carey boys, girls, Riverdale’s Colliers qualify for regionals

FINDLAY — Carey’s boys and girls teams and Riverdale’s Juleigha Collier and Kendra Collier qualified for regionals during district cross country competition Saturday at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus. Both Blue Devils teams took third place in their districts, while the Collier’s had top-16 individual finishes for the fifth-place Falcons.
