SYCAMORE — It has not been easy, but Mohawk senior Destini Oler has succeeded in being a two-sport fall athlete to an extreme degree. In her first year running cross country — in addition to playing volleyball — Oler will compete in the state meet this Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.

BUCYRUS — Wynford will make its 12th football playoffs appearance in 13 years Friday when it hosts Carey in a Division VI regional quarterfinal at 7 p.m. The Royals remain a model of consistency.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk has faced its share of high-powered offenses throughout the regular season. The Warriors’ defense will be tested yet again, as they face a Pandora-Gilboa offense that Mohawk coach Brent Konkle said is similar to two teams they have seen in Northern 10 Athletic League play in numerous ways — Wynford and Seneca East.

CAREY — The regional volleyball tournament will be a new experience for the Carey volleyball program. Since the Blue Devils began playing the sport in 1975, they never won a district title before they dispatched New Riegel, 3-1, on Thursday at Findlay High School.

Riverdale’s Reygan Frey was named the girls North Central Ohio Soccer Association player of the year, while the Falcons’ Andrew Snook was named co-coach of the year. Snook shared top coaching honors with Cory-Rawson’s Mark Schwerner.

Riverdale’s Coby Miller and Taylor Bacon and Upper Sandusky’s Lupe Landaverde received first-team boys All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association honors. Miller, a sophomore forward, led the Falcons in scoring with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.

LANCASTER — Owen Mawer led Upper Sandusky in the OHSAA Middle School/Junior High Invitational last Saturday at Lancaster High School. Mawer finished 25th in 12:09.6 in the Boys Race E, earning him a medal.

Carey Our Lady of Consolation eighth-grader Sarah Reinhart recently won the Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls junior high championship for the second straight year in the league cross country meet at Seneca East. She ran the 2-mile race in 12:31.63 to win by almost 26 seconds.

Senior Aidan Loveridge was named to the All-Blanchard Valley Conference second team on both offense and defense to lead Riverdale’s selections Loveridge was selected as a running back and linebacker.

BUCYRUS — The Wynford Athletic Department has presale tickets available this week for the Friday home playoff game against Carey. Tickets will be on sale during school hours through Thursday and until noon Friday.
