Rams sweep Rockets for 1st win of season

The Upper Sandusky volleyball team won its first match of the season with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-17 victory against Ridgedale on Tuesday evening. Kenedi Hayden and Emily Hill had eight kills each for the Rams (1-3, 1-1 Northern 10 Athletic Conference). Bre Rosario and Eve Smith both served three aces, and Lucy Smith had 29 assists.

Blue Devils stay unbeaten

CAREY — Carey golf remained undefeated with a 175-189 victory against Buckeye Central on Tuesday at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course. Marcus Miller paced the Blue Devils (6-0, 4-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) with a 40, followed by Trey Bame’s 42. Ethan Tanner scored a 45, and Dylan Grothaus had a 48. Kole Phillips (49) and McKain Miller (50) had scores that did not count toward the team total.

Cory-Rawson scores 2 in 1st half to top Upper

RAWSON — Cory-Rawson scored two first-half goals, and that was enough for a 2-0 victory against Upper Sandusky in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association boys soccer match Tuesday. Daniel White scored on an assist from Matt White only four minutes into the match, and 17 minutes later, Isaiah Colvin doubled the lead of the Hornets (1-2, 1-0 NCOSA).

Carey overcomes slow start to defeat New Riegel in 4 sets

CAREY — Delayed by long freshman and varsity matches beforehand, Carey got off to a slow start but recovered for a 16-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-21 non-conference volleyball victory against New Riegel on Monday. The Blue Devils (4-0) fell behind big in the first set, and the Blue Jackets (2-2) had a chance for a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Carey fought off the challenge.

Rodriguez scores both goals in Falcons’ victory

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Gabi Rodriguez scored a pair of second-half goals to give Riverdale a 2-0 non-conference girls soccer victory against Woodmore on Monday night. The game was scoreless for 55 minutes before Rodriguez found the back of the net on an assist from Lexie Wright on a long throw-in. Rodriguez scored again about five minutes later on a free kick.

Rams sweeps Barons in tennis action

DELAWARE — A short-handed Buckeye Valley team was no match for Upper Sandusky, which swept a girls tennis match, 5-0, on Monday in Delaware. The Barons (0-2) were without their top two singles players because of injuries.

Comets get win

NEW BLOOMINGTON — Mohawk got a 49 from Alayna Kindle but came up short, 187-221, against Elgin in a girls golf dual match Monday at Windy Acres Golf Course. The Warriors got three scores in the 50s after Kindle’s 49: a 54 from Kayla Risner and 59s from Hayden Heilman and Emmah Danner.
