Upper Sandusky Police Department Brett A. Smith, Carey, was arrested for OVI and cited for failure to drive in marked lanes on the 1300 block of North Warpole Street the early morning of Sept. 1.

Upper Sandusky Police Department Blake A. Staymen, Kenton, was arrested on a warrant out of Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for failure to comply on a driving under suspension charge the night of Aug. 29.

Safety Blotter: September 3, 2019

A caller reported someone panhandling at Walmart the morning of Aug. 29. The responding officer made contact with a Michigan man, who said he was heading to Akron and was trying to get enough money to make the entire trip. The man was off the roadway and was on private property. 

Safety blotter: August 29, 2019

An officer on patrol observed a disabled vehicle with its hazard lights on on South Sandusky Avenue near South Street the early morning of Aug. 26. The vehicle had run out of gas. The officer gave the driver a ride to the gas station and back and the vehicle was moved.

Safety blotter: August 27, 2019

Radu P. Malacescu, Fort Mill, South Carolina, was issued a parking citation on Comfort Drive the early morning of Aug. 25. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Fourth Street for a verbal domestic disturbance the early morning of Aug. 25. The situation did not progress beyond yelling and both parties agreed to separate for the night.

A Sycamore man was traveling southbound on TH 10 near CH 44 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing minor damage the morning of Aug. 21. A Graytown man was traveling southbound on Ohio 53 near CH 4 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing disabling damage the morning of Aug. 23.

Safety blotter: August 22, 2019

Adam D. Hyatt, Carey, was cited for a red light violation on the 300 block of North Sandusky Avenue the early morning of Aug. 17. A caller reported a suspicious man walking near Love’s Travel Mart the morning of Aug. 17. Officers patrolled the area but did not see anyone suspicious.

Safety blotter: August 21, 2019

A Sycamore woman reported the theft of credit card information the afternoon of Aug. 15. The responding deputy advised her to cancel her credit card immediately. A Sycamore woman reported unwanted contact from her husband after filing for divorce the afternoon of Aug. 15. She was advised to contact the sheriff’s office if the situation escalates.

Officers removed a bat from a residence on the 300 block of West Johnson Street the night of Aug. 16. John D. Lebay, Upper Sandusky, was arrested for OVI and cited for OVI refusal, expired registration and driving under suspension following a traffic stop at the intersection of Winding Hollow Lane and Indian Mill Drive the early morning of Aug. 17. A passenger, Evan W. Crabtree, Kenton, also was cited for expired registration.
