MARION — Country star Kellie Pickler and heavy metal/rock band Skid Row will pop in to the 36th Marion Popcorn Festival as the headline entertainment. Pickler will take the main stage on Friday, and Skid Row is set for Sept. 10.

BUCYRUS — With seven new teachers this year, Wynford Local Schools has a mix of former Royals themselves and graduates of other schools, as well as a mix of teachers just getting their start and teachers who have some experience.

CAREY — Carey Council heard about improvements made to traffic patterns at the school building on South Vance Street during a regular meeting Tuesday. To help alleviate congestion experienced during drop-off and pick-up times on the first days of the school year, entrances connecting the school’s north parking lot to Memorial Park have been added.

COLUMBUS — The Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is seeking entries for the 2017 Safety Innovations Program. The annual program awards cash prizes from $1,000 to $6,000 to employers who develop innovative solutions to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and illnesses to their employees.

The Wyandot County Office of Economic Development, Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Administration and Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot Counties will present a Small Business and Entrepreneur Development Fair.

A man in the 3000 block of Ohio 53, Upper Sandusky, reported the afternoon of Aug. 8 his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle over the weekend. The man provided a copy of a credit card transaction that had been made the previous day at Wal-Mart in Tiffin.

City officials discovered a provision in the zoning regulations during a public hearing Tuesday that allows for bed and breakfast-style businesses by special permit. No residents attended the hearing prior to the planning commission meeting for a discussion of possible amendments to the city’s zoning and building regulations, including, but not limited to, bed and breakfasts.

The Upper Sandusky Service Committee on Tuesday approved a motion to create plans for a walking path off Duck Pond Park on the east side of the city and tabled a request by Speedway, on the west side of the U.S. 23/30 overpass, to widen its eastern-most driveway.
