COLUMBUS — Recent changes to the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s home loan programs mean more rural Ohioans may be able to reach their homeownership goals, according to the USDA.

Upper Sandusky police has a new lieutenant. Patrick O’Connor, a two-year veteran of the department, took the oath during a city safety committee meeting Monday.

CAREY — Mayor Jennifer Rathburn said an offer from the village likely will not keep the school district out of auction for a planned sale of old property. During a regular council meeting Monday, Rathburn said the village offered $50,000 for the old Carey school property on East South Street.

An Upper Sandusky man reported a road closed sign was missing from the area of North Third Street and East Guthrie Drive the morning of July 19. The city street department was contacted to replace it.

Two-year-old Corbin Richey recently completed Mohawk Community Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program with help from his parents Clay and Korrin Richey. They started reading the books Feb. 9, 2015  and finished Aug, 3, 2017.

You may have seen a few painted rocks hiding around Upper Sandusky over the last couple weeks. If you picked one up, you probably already know about the city’s latest craze. The Facebook group Upper Rocks was organized after Upper natives Amanda Barta and Kim Kisor recently stopped by Practically Perfect with an idea.
