Registrar releases January stats

Jane M. Shrider, registrar of vital statistics at the Wyandot County Health Department, reports there were 14 births and 39 deaths in the county during January. Births include 10 females and four males; deaths include 18 females and 21 males. Fifty-one certified birth and 147 certified death certificates were issued. Forty-three burial permits were issued.

Daily Chief in need of carriers

The Daily Chief-Union has an immediate need for motor route drivers and foot carriers. Delivery is Monday through Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Tiffin gospel music in three events

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Gospel Music Association will present three events in Wyandot County in March. A gospel sing and dinner featuring HeartSong, Chris Baldwin and Jimmy Bloomfield is March 10 at The Village Restaurant, 435 N. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky. Dinner is set for 5 p.m., with singing from 6-8 p.m.

Local officials meet to discuss ways to improve intersection safety on U.S. 23

Making the grade

Wyandot County representatives including township trustees, the county commissioners, community leaders and first responders met Tuesday to discuss ways to improve safety at dangerous at-grade intersections on U.S. 23. Tuesday’s meeting was a follow-up to the U.S. 23 Corridor Access Study stakeholder meeting hosted by ODOT representatives on Jan. 30.

Sycamore Council approves bid for insulation

SYCAMORE — Sycamore Village Council approved an insulation proposal for its electric building Tuesday during its regularly scheduled meeting. Village Administrator Chuck Clark reached out for bids from two companies to insulate the electric building, and a company based out of Mansfield was capable of using a one-inch foam spray, which will help maintain temperature in the building.
