Six people are seeking four available spots on Upper Sandusky City Council during Tuesday’s election. Candidates are Independent Tom Karcher, Democrat Roxanna Karg, and Republicans Aaron Korte, Donald Spiegel, John Walker and Kenneth Wessler.

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore’s parks committee met with leaders from local business leaders Tuesday to discuss plans for 2018. Dean Keller, President of the First National Bank of Sycamore, presented a fundraising letter that he would like to send to local businesses and private citizens to collect pledges toward the pool and the parks.

Crane Township trustees are asking the citizens of Crane Township, which includes Upper Sandusky, to approve a .5-mill property tax increase that will become effective Jan. 1, 2018. This increase will generate around $75,000 a year in additional funds for five years.

The Upper Sandusky High School agricultural team placed third in the state and the urban team took sixth in soil judging competition held recently. Competition was held at the county level, district level and state level.

The Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a forestry clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the county woodlot next to Angeline School. This clinic will include presentations on timber stand improvements, best management practices for woodlots, invasive species control and harvest contract do’s and don’ts.

The Wyandot County 4-H Endowment Committee will host Ensure the Legacy Auction and Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds, 10171 Ohio 53, Upper Sandusky. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Wyandot County producers are reminded that the acreage reporting deadline for perennial forage crop (examples are grass hay, alfalfa, clover or pasture) is Nov. 15 for crop year 2018 and subsequent years. Also, producers are reminded that the acreage reporting date for fall seeded crops is Dec. 15.

The Village of Sycamore held several contests Saturday for its Halloween in Sycamore event. The costume judging featured five age brackets and one group contest.

Three candidates are seeking two positions as Salem Township trustees. Kenneth Derr, Jack A. Gottfried and Jon E. Zimmerman are seeking four-year terms to begin in January.
