Students from Upper Sandusky, Carey and Mohawk high schools put on a DocuDrama Thursday at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds with a big assist from Wyandot County first responders. The event, which is organized for over four months to encourage students to make intelligent choices during prom season, was viewed by over 600 students from Upper Sandusky, Carey and Mohawk high schools, who were sitting in the grandstands.

Approximately 125 area first graders participated in the 2018 Bubble Blast Thursday in front of the Wyandot County Courthouse to help raise awareness for child abuse and neglect prevention.

The cast of the Star Players’ upcoming spring production, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” is an ensemble of four dynamic women from Upper Sandusky. Audiences may hear them sing nearly 30 classic ’50s and ’60s tunes in this jukebox musical at 7 p.m. May 10-12 and 2 p.m. May 13 at the Star Theatre.

On the heels of a successful band trip to Florida and as the wind ensemble prepares for its performance at OMEA State Contest, the music department has announced that for the eighth consecutive year, Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools has earned the “Best Communities for Music Education” title from the NAMM Foundation.

CAREY — Carey has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

CAREY — The Carey Area Chamber of Commerce held its 2018 Professional Women’s Luncheon Wednesday at the Our Lady of Consolation Shrine Cafeteria. A welcome and introductions were provided by Wyandot County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Sara Lou Binau and Carey Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cassie Carlson.

The Wyandot County Veterans Service Commission finalized the date of an open house for its office’s new location during its regular meeting Wednesday. The open house will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. May 25 at 250 Highland Parkway, north of the Wyandot County Fairgrounds.

FOREST — Community First Bank N.A. has announced the promotion of assistant cashier Nichole Burton to assistant vice president/assistant cashier. In her 16 years with CFB, Burton has worked in many areas of the bank, moving from part- to full-time teller, to head teller and then to assistant cashier, a position to which she was promoted in 2011.

TIFFIN — Stover Veterinary Services is expanding its practice with a new full-service mobile veterinary clinic. The clinic will hold regular office hours in Tiffin and at two other locations in Seneca County, in addition to house calls.
