Day camp set at Gottfried Nature Center

The Gottfried Nature Center and the Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding a summer day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21 at the Gottfried Nature Center on CH 330 west of Upper Sandusky. The all day camp will include sessions involving hands-on investigations into the areas of creatures that fly, food chain producers, trees and plants, and a collection of outdoor games and nature fun activities.

Upper considers township fire contracts

The Upper Sandusky Safety Committee heard from area township trustees Monday in advance of a vote for mutual aid fire protection contracts, which expire July 1. Upper Sandusky Fire Department Chief Lynn Yeater previously attended all area township meetings with trustees to explain what has been going on at the department and the need for an increase in rates.

A crew from Go Green LLC, of Van Wert, removes slabs of concrete from the former Forest swimming pool Monday. The Kenton-Hardin Health Department closed the pool in 2014 for safety reasons.

Carey could switch income tax agency

CAREY — As the village’s contract with the Central Collection Agency, Division of Taxation, Cleveland, nears an end, Carey Village council once again is considering changing firms to take care of income tax payments. The village’s contract with the Central Collection Agency, Division of Taxation, Cleveland, expires on July 1.
