PITTSBURGH — An Upper Sandusky graduate has gone the extra mile in an attempt to cure her two-year-old nephew. With nephew Gavin Giacalone in need of a liver transplant to potentially cure his rare genetic disorder, GM3 Synthase Deficiency, aunt Michelle Shark (formerly Webster), a 2011 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, didn’t hesitate.

FOREST — The Forest Tree Town Festival, which will run July 6-8 at Gormley Park, will honor one of its most valued neighbors. Clayton Bash was named the grand marshal of the festival for 2018. His family farm abuts the village’s Gormley Park to the east and he has been a part of the Forest community his entire life.

Members of the Wyandot County Special Olympics team were given a heroes’ welcome Thursday with an escort through downtown Sycamore provided by the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department.

Wyandot County residents are opening their homes and gardens to the public for a good cause early next month. The second annual home and garden tour takes place from 1-6 p.m. July 8 and will feature four area homes and two gardens in the county.
