HHWP receiving funds for public transportation in Wyandot County

Almost all counties in Ohio have public transportation but Wyandot County has historically been on the short-list of those that do not. That is changing, however, as the Ohio Department of Transportation is granting funds to the Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission (HHWP CAC) to expand public transportation offerings into Wyandot County.

USCL board has organizational meeting

The Upper Sandusky Community Library Board kicked off 2019 with an organizational meeting. Jennifer Romich, Dianne Grafmiller and Ann Kemerley were retained as president, vice president and secretary, respectively. Kathleen Whitt was reappointed as fiscal officer and Todd Leightey began his new term on the board. All positions were sworn in.

The Wyandot Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting Wednesday morning at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. Wyandot County native Dr. Amy Collet Adams (pictured) was the guest speaker with a speech themed “Don’t get lost in the shuffle.”

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) was sworn in to his first full term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives during Monday’s session. He represents the 87th District, which includes Crawford, Morrow and Wyandot counties, as well as parts of Marion and Seneca counties. “I’m excited to begin this new General Assembly, we have many issues to take on including school funding, mental health, foster care, drug use and sentencing reform to highlight a few,” McClain said.

Governor appoints Jeff as Ohio tax commissioner

COLUMBUS — Upper Sandusky native and former area state Rep. Jeff McClain was appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine as commissioner of the Department of Taxation on Thursday. “Basically I’m a member of the governor’s cabinet,” McClain said. “My job is to run the department. We have about 900 employees and we deal with about 30 different taxes and we touch everybody’s lives whether it’s personal income tax, municipal tax, any tax that’s in the state of Ohio, we’re a part of it and we make sure we do it fairly and honestly and with a great deal of transparency.”
