Wyandot fire departments receive grant money for MARCS system The Ohio State Fire Marshall visited the Wyandot County EMS building Wednesday afternoon to award grant money to seven Wyandot County fire departments. Jeff Hussey and his Chief Deputy Bill Spurgeon presented a check for $279,017.29 to the Upper Sandusky, Carey, Sycamore, Wharton, Wyandot East, Marseilles and Pitt Township fire departments to be used for a new multi-agency radio communication system (MARCS). Park board says yes to attendance based bonuses for lifeguards The Upper Sandusky Park Board approved bonuses for lifeguards at a special meeting Wednesday evening. Upper Sandusky City Council member Aaron Korte recommended a $300 bonus for lifeguards to help reimburse them for the cost of certification with the caveat that they work 50 percent or more of the days the pool is open. LaRue man crushed while working on car LaRUE — A LaRue man died Wednesday morning after an accident on private property on TH 67. Dana A. Green, 54, of rural LaRue, was killed after a 2003 GMC Envoy he was working on rolled forward while he was underneath it, according to a Wyandot County Sheriff’s report. Read More
Regional planning commission meeting today The Wyandot County Regional Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Wyandot County Council on Aging, 127 S. Sandusky Ave. in Upper Sandusky. The commission will be discussing a proposed amendment to Wyandot County Subdivision Regulation 3210 following a Feb. 28 public hearing on the matter. Read More

Family: Lee victim of Mount Carmel overdose scandal The family of an Upper Sandusky man says he was a victim in the Mount Carmel overdose scandal. Robert P. Lee, of Upper Sandusky, died at Mt. Carmel-St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville on Oct. 13, 2017. He was 70. The family later learned that Dr. William Husel had ordered a lethal dose of fentanyl, the immediate cause of Lee’s death.
