Soybean producers may request referendum on promotion program

The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service announced that soybean producers may request a referendum on the Soybean Promotion and Research Order, as authorized under the Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act. Participation in the Request for Referendum is voluntary, and producers should only participate if they wish to request a referendum on the program.

City council starts process for sale of Waterworks park

Upper Sandusky Village Council approved the first reading of the sale of Waterworks Park during its regular meeting Monday evening. Conditions for the sale of Waterworks Park include a minimum selling price of $32,000 and the winner of the public auction must make a down payment of 10 percent of the sale price within 45 days of the purchase.

Fremont man killed in two-vehicle collision

A Fremont man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office report states at approximately 4:11 p.m., the office received a 911 call from a concerned citizen that there was a head-on collision on Ohio 53 north of CH 47 involving a pick up truck and a cement truck.

Carey village council OKs sidewalk plan

CAREY — Carey Village Councilors on Monday approved a tentative six-year plan from 2019-2024 to address sidewalks in the village that did not meet specifications. In the 2019 Carey sidewalk plan, notices will be sent to properties on North Street, South Street and Cleveland Avenue with sidewalks that did not meet the sidewalk specifications last year. They also will finish the sidewalks on Findlay Street that were not brought up to current regulations in the past year.

Upper Sandusky BOE creates field liner position

The Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School Board voted to create a field liner position during Monday evening’s board meeting. The position will pay $14 per hour for up to 800 hours for the 2019-20 school year. The district has had trouble the last couple of years getting someone to do the job of lining the district athletic fields.

Upper Sandusky High School Guidance Counselor Andrea Dunn was the guest speaker at May’s Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International meeting. Dunn gave a presentation on Girls ROX: Girl Empowerment, a new program for girls in fifth grade through 12th to help them be confident and gain skills with to live a healthy, independent, productive and violence-free life.

Wynford Local School District turns the page on a new chapter

Breaking ground

Sunday with mostly clear skies, a burst of rain and a dose of wind, Wynford celebrated a new chapter for the district while also looking back and thanking those who came before. At the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Junior High and High School building, Wynford Students, alumni, administration, faculty and staff, community members and elected officials gathered to signify the start of what will be a year and a half long project, a $10.5 million project that Superintendent Fred Fox said would not be possible without Wynford’s strong support system.
