Vanlue medieval event cancelled

VANLUE — The Society for Creative Anachronism event called Pounce scheduled for Labor Day weekend at the Vanlue community park has been canceled, according to the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce. Safety blotter: August 26, 2019

A Sycamore man was traveling southbound on TH 10 near CH 44 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing minor damage the morning of Aug. 21. A Graytown man was traveling southbound on Ohio 53 near CH 4 when he struck a deer that entered the roadway, causing disabling damage the morning of Aug. 23.

Craddolph added to staff at St. Peter’s

New teacher

In addition to new principal Blake England, St. Peter Catholic School added a new face this year in fourth-grade teacher Brittany Craddolph. In addition to fourth grade, Craddolph also will be teaching fifth and sixth grade math, but she said she is looking forward to the challenge of teaching fourth grade.

An appreciation dinner was held at the Shawshank Woodshop Friday evening for volunteers who helped make the 25th anniversary of “The Shawshank Redemption” possible last weekend. A fundraiser was held Sunday at the woodshop in support of local nonprofit Awareness 22, which supports veterans in crisis and their families.
