Vets Day at county fair moved to Wednesday The Wyandot County Veterans Service Commission discussed how to best inform area veterans about a change at the Wyandot County Fair for 2019. Veterans Day at the fair will be Wednesday during fair week this year instead of Tuesday. Wyandot County Veterans Service Officer Theresa Miller said it is a big deal to get the word out about the move to Wednesday because she didn’t want to see a bunch of veterans showing up Tuesday since that’s when the day had been celebrated in the past. Safety blotter: August 1, 2019 A caller reported observing a female carrying a backpack and possibly not wearing any shoes crawl into railroad cars on the 100 block of West Hicks Street the morning of July 31. The responding officers searched the cars as well as other cars in the area and were unable to locate anyone. Read More
North Central Electric represents co-ops at EPA roundtable COLUMBUS — North Central Electric Cooperative board trustee Nick Wagner spoke on behalf of Ohio’s 24 electric cooperatives in a round table discussion at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus last week to express approval for the Environmental Protective Agency’s new ACE Rule that replaces the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan, which, according to officials, had strict regulations that would have hurt the energy industries. Coloring contest winners Mohawk Community Library announced the winners of its summer coloring contest with a Back to School bash Tuesday. Winners were gifted a bag loaded with school supplies including markers, crayons, pencils, glue sticks, paper, folders, safety scissors as well as a $20 gift card to purchase a new backpack. Wyandot fair renews contract with ride company The Daily Chief-Union confirmed Tuesday that the Wyandot County Fair will have rides this year through the same company as last year, Durant Amusements. The fair is currently accepting open class entries and premium books are available. Read More
