Dear editor, As the village of Sycamore celebrates her 175th birthday, we find ourselves embroiled in a rezoning effort that, if passed, will have a devastating effect on the social and economic fabric of our community for years to come.

Writing on behalf of parents, coaches and athletes from Mohawk High School spring sports teams, I would like to thank Lonnie McMillan and his sports staff at The Daily Chief-Union for the excellent coverage his team has given to the Warriors and Lady Warriors this past season. Not only this past spring season, but throughout the school year, Lonnie and his staff’s coverage is top notch.

Please, Ohio lawmakers, don’t meddle (again) with the PLF! Following the fall of Ohio’s public libraries’ state funds after the recession of 2008, libraries slowly have crawled back up during the last almost 10 years to a much better place.

As we have celebrated Memorial Day 2017, we should reflect on what Memorial Day really means to us and to all Wyandot County service members who couldn’t be here this weekend to celebrate. It is a time to remember our service members who gave their all so we could have our freedom.
