COLUMBUS — The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation recently awarded five agricultural action and awareness grants that aim to help individuals and groups make a difference in their communities. The grants focused on four core areas: economic development, education, environment and the human-animal bond and are supported by the OFBF, a nonprofit, public, charitable organized registered in Ohio.

Wyandot County Auditor George W. “Bill” Kitzler will host an information meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Upper Sandusky Community Library, 301 N. Sandusky Ave. for a discussion of the state of Ohio’s increases to farmland enrolled in the current agricultural use value program.

FINDLAY — Waterfowl hunters are invited to participate in special drawings for controlled hunting opportunities, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The ODNR Division of Wildlife will host drawings in northwest Ohio at three locations, Pipe Creek Wildlife Area, East Sandusky Bay Metro Park and Magee Marsh Wildlife Area.

UPPER ARLINGTON — Friends of Ohio Barns will offer a preview of the new film “The Barn Raisers” from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Amelita Mirolo Barn, 4395 Carriage Hill Lane, Upper Arlington. “The Barn Raisers” is a historical feature film that tells the story of barns in the Upper Midwest by examining them through the lens of architecture, according to a press release from Friends of Ohio Barns.

The Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District hosted a tour Thursday morning of various projects around the county that are ongoing or have been completed. The tour primarily was an opportunity for local officials to take a glance at the projects.

COLUMBUS — Three Carey High School students are among the 213 Ohio youth who were selected for this year’s All-Ohio State Fair Band. Blue Devils Allison Keller on French horn, Jack Yeater on percussion and Sarah Goble on tenor saxophone were selected for the 2016 state fair band.

COLUMBUS — A Nevada resident is among a list of 16 Ohioans announced as winners of the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation’s annual college scholarships. Cody McClain, an Upper Sandusky High School graduate, was one of four winners of the Darwin Bryan scholarship.

The Wyandot County Farm Bureau will host a tour Saturday by all-terrain, utility-task and other passenger vehicles on local dairy and cattle farms and at DeLong Grain Company. Area residents are invited to drive four-wheelers, Gators, Kubotas and or their own passenger vehicle of choice.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Members of the Riverdale FFA have stayed busy this summer with a variety of events and activities. On July 8, the club participated in the Forest Tree Town Festival parade.
