Conventional and organic ag policies approved by National Farmers members

AMES, Iowa — National Farmers Organization members voted in favor of agricultural policy positions at the organization’s 2017 Convention in Springfield, Missouri, on Jan. 26. From funding for crop insurance and grain loan rates to organic grain import issues, dairy supply management and the renewable fuel standards, members voted in favor of the various policy positions.

Farm Service Agency reminds local owners of Conservation Program contract terms and conditions

If a landowner plans to sell farmland that's enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program, the Wyandot County Farm Service Agency office would like to remind landowners about the terms and conditions of their contracts. Also, if the ownership changes from an individual to a trust or a limited liability company, please inform the office.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — During the final week of August and the first few weeks of September, county fair goers flock to the fairgrounds in Findlay, Kenton and Upper Sandusky for the Hancock, Hardin and Wyandot county fairs, which fall on consecutive weeks. The fairs are home to a wide variety of livestock shows for members of 4-H and FFA organizations and open shows for adults.

Ohio Farm Bureau ag leadership, advocacy training program seeks participant applicants

COLUMBUS — The leadership and advocacy development program, AgriPOWER, is now accepting applications for participation. The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s AgriPOWER Class IX will include 20 individuals who are committed to improving their understanding of important issues and are willing to develop skills to become effective advocates for the farm and food community.
