The United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency temporarily will suspend accepting most new offers until later in the 2018 fiscal year. The FSA temporarily is suspending acceptance of most offers going forward to provide time to review CRP allocation levels and to avoid exceeding the statutory cap of 24 million acres.

This is an opportune time to take another look at your farming operation and determine if there are areas that could benefit from the establishment of one or more conservation practices. For instance, do you have a ditch or stream running through your farm that needs a filter strip?

COLUMBUS — The 84th annual Convention of the Ohio Farmers Union will feature events and speakers aimed at young and beginning farmers as well as tackle issues important to Ohio’s independent, family farmers. OFU’s convention is Jan. 26-27 at the Columbus Airport Marriott.

BUCYRUS — Farmers in the Little Scioto, Olentangy and Mud Run watersheds are invited to complete a survey by the Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District. This information will help the district learn how it can help farmers with their operation’s conservation needs.

In December, the Upper Sandusky FFA held its Greenhand ceremony, which honors first-year FFA members who have met the requirements to receive their Greenhand degree.
