Wyandot County employers have been recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) for going at least six months and 500,000 man-hours without a workplace safety incident that caused a worker to miss a day or more of work.

KENTON — About 350 members and guests attended the annual membership meeting of Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative on April 11 at the co-op’s new Kenton facility warehouse on West Lima Street. Refreshments were served at the door before Mid-Ohio Energy staff led guided tours of the new 30,600-square-foot Kenton facility and shared information about the co-op’s various programs and services.

LOVELL — The Killdeer Pizza Co. is keeping two small-town businesses going. Nearly a year after Brent Barchent and Paul Wagner revived a convenience store in Harpster by offering a signature pizza, they have expanded to the market on Ohio 199 in Lovell.

COLUMBUS — Two teams from Carey were state champions in their respective events, and 16 will move on to national competition after the Ohio DECA Career Development Conference last month at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus.

CAREY — Lois Kurtz recently celebrated 65 years of business at Kurtz Shoe Store. Kurtz’s father, Richard E. Kurtz, started the business in 1951, and Lois took over after his death in 1973.

Paul Wagner auctions off items for a crowd at the old M.J. Mugsy’s restaurant in downtown Upper Sandusky on Monday. The restaurant closed in January 2016 after 23 years in business.
