Tiffin holiday house tour slated for Sunday

TIFFIN — The Tiffin Historic Trust will host its annual holiday house tour from 1-5 p.m. Sunday during Tiffin’s winter holiday festivities. Tour organizers Joan Martin and Nancy Cook will present a selection of homes from different eras decorated for the holidays.

Library to celebrate Christmas in Carey to kick off December events

CAREY — The Dorcas Carey Public Library will kick off special programming for the month of December with crafts, cookies, hot chocolate and coffee from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 2 during Christmas in Carey. The following week, programming includes adult crafts at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 with all supplies provided to make snowman decorations; the teen advisory group at 4 p.m. Dec. 6; and a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Crisis Text Line offers new hope

New to Ohioans is the Crisis Text Line, a free, confidential service available 24 hours per day, seven days a week via text on mobile devices. Throughout Ohio, individuals can text the word “4hope” to 741741 to be connected to a crisis counselor.

Mental health training slated

Mental health first aid training is being offered to residents of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot counties from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky. Sponsored by Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services and funded by the Mental Health Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties, the eight-hour course will teach attendees how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis.

MCL: Try to escape

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Community Library will host its second escape room challenge Dec. 10. The Christmas-themed room will require teams of five to work together and communicate effectively to find clues to escape the room.

Blood drives scheduled

­TOLEDO — The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give the gift of a lifesaving blood or platelet donation this holiday season. By rolling up a sleeve, donors can help ensure patients continue to receive treatment throughout the holiday season.

Choir to perform

GALION — The Galion Community Chorus, under the direction of John Sikora, will present its 62nd annual performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way W. The performance is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
