FINDLAY — The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission’s HEAP 2019 Winter Crisis Program began Nov. 1 and continues through March 31 — as long as funds remain available. This program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service, seek to transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

TIFFIN — Through a federal grant obtained in partnership with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties is able to provide and offer assistance to individuals struggling with opioid-use disorder, regardless of income level and payer source.

FINDLAY — The American Red Cross encourages people to help meet the urgent need for blood and platelets by resolving to give blood this January — National Blood Donor Month. Donating blood or platelets is a way to make a lifesaving impact in the new year for patients like Judy Janssen, who was diagnosed with end-stage autoimmune liver disease in 2016.

ONTARIO — The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. has funding available for home repairs for those age 60 and older who qualify based on their combined monthly income. Types of home repairs include furnace repair or replacement, bathroom accessibility modifications and other necessary home repairs.
