Kids make cookies for nursing homes Area children gave back to the community in a big way Wednesday, decorating Valentine’s Day cookies for Wyandot County nursing home residents. The event was hosted by Dippers and Dogs, a local hand-dipped ice cream shop that also sells hot dogs and other assorted homemade food. Read More
Upper Lions Club donates food cabinet The Upper Sandusky Lions Club recently donated a cabinet so that HHWP Community Action Commission could start a Small Blessings Food Pantry near the Head Start classroom. This little free food pantry is similar to the little free library concept and was established to activate community engagement around food insecurity. Read More

State launching foster care awareness campaign COLUMBUS — People don’t have to be wealthy or have an advanced degree to open a home to children in need. They just need “100 percent heart.” That’s the message of a new foster care and adoption website and public awareness campaign launched this month by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, which oversees the state’s child protective services programs.
