CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, in Carey, will be celebrating a special mass in honor of St. Peregrine, patron saint of those affected by cancer, at 7 p.m. May 3 in the Basilica. Anyone who is suffering from cancer, in remission from cancer, a cancer survivor and their loved ones and caregivers are especially invited to participate.

FINDLAY — The 18th annual Blanchard Valley Health System Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Findlay, 2230 S. Main St., Findlay. This interfaith memorial service will honor BVHS patients and residents who passed away in 2018.

KENTON – The 16th Annual Hardin County Master Gardener Plant Sale begins at 9 a.m. May 11, rain or shine, at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County, which is a new location. The Friendship Gardens of Hardin County is located behind the HARCO Workshop Building, 960 W. Kohler St., Kenton. Parking is available at the garden.

The annual Salem Township High School alumni reunion banquet was April 13 at St. Joseph Heritage Society Hall next to the former St. Joseph Catholic Church on CR 44 in Salem Township. Forty-three membes were in attendance.

The Community Christian Center and Open Door Resource Center present the second annual Cinco de Mayo Mexican buffet fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. May 4 at Open Door. Freshly prepared Mexican food available includes beef and chicken enchiladas, cheese qusadillas, a taco bar, taco salad, refried beans, Mexican rice, chips and salsa and Patti Spiegel’s “legendary” fried ice cream along with other desserts and drinks.

The Upper Sandusky High School students of the month for March are senior Mckenzie Gardner, junior Nayeli Ayala, sophomore Jack Orians and freshman Emeraih Webb.

Confederate Taylors Battery Co C during the Sunday meeting will talk on life in different types of camps in the Civil War. Included will be how the soldiers lived, drilled, how they dressed, and how they ate.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Area Women’s Literary Club met April 1 at the Mohawk Community Library. President Elaine Kern opened the meeting with the poem “Washington” by Nancy Byrd Turner. Fourteen members answered roll call by responding to the question “Can anyone keep their private life in today’s world?” The club creed was read, followed by the club song.

Wynford High School students were recognized in March for being Royal P.R.I.D.E. leaders in the district wide initiative to recognize positive student behaviors which improves academic performance and decreases discipline referrals.
