HHWP CAC offering cooling assistance to low-income households The HHWP Community Action Commission will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program began July 1 and runs until Aug. 31. The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health. Pheasants Forever hosting youth trap shoot Thursday Wyandot County Phesants Forever, in partnership with the Ohio Division of Wildlife, Rogers Lake Conservation Club and Ellis Lake recently announced upcoming youth events happening this summer. A youth outdoor skills day is 5-8 p.m. July 25. Attendees will participate in fishing, kayaking, BB gun, 3D archery and demonstrations. Food and soft drinks will be provided. Space is limited for this second year event for children ages 17 and younger and registration is required. The event is being held at Sam Walton (Ellis) Lake, 7430 CH 124, Upper Sandusky. Patrol continues focus on impaired driving law enforcement in July DEFIANCE — As part of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s ongoing effort to make Ohio’s roadways safer, troopers are continuing to focus on impaired driving enforcement.
