HHWP CAC offering cooling assistance to low-income households

The HHWP Community Action Commission will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program began July 1 and runs until Aug. 31. The Summer Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households with an elderly member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health.

The Dorcas Carey Public Library congratulates Brooklyn Gery for reading 1,000 books before kindergarten. The library offers the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program for newborns up to school age.

Pheasants Forever hosting youth trap shoot Thursday

Wyandot County Phesants Forever, in partnership with the Ohio Division of Wildlife, Rogers Lake Conservation Club and Ellis Lake recently announced upcoming youth events happening this summer. A youth outdoor skills day is 5-8 p.m. July 25. Attendees will participate in fishing, kayaking, BB gun, 3D archery and demonstrations. Food and soft drinks will be provided. Space is limited for this second year event for children ages 17 and younger and registration is required. The event is being held at Sam Walton (Ellis) Lake, 7430 CH 124, Upper Sandusky. Awareness raised for Wyandot County mental health options

The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties is raising awareness of the current mental health treatment options available in Wyandot County. The Board currently contracts with three agencies within the county to provide outpatient mental health services to both adults, adolescents and children.

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Monday and is correct as of that date. Pets reported as missing since the last report that have not been found include a female mostly brown calico cat, a black and white young male husky, a black and white staffordshire terrier mix, a white and tiger neutered male cat, an old white female bichon, a white female great pyrenees, a white long hair female cat with only one eye, a tan female Chihuahua, a male brown pit bull mix, a black male Chihuahua mix with white toes, a red female golden retriever, an orange male cat and a female blue heeler wearing a red or brown collar.
