Wyandot Public Health gets traffic safety grant

The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office has awarded the Wyandot County Public Health Department $24,997 in federal traffic safety funding to conduct Safe Communities Grant Activities. Funding from the Safe Communities Grant will be used to conduct education and awareness campaigns related to motorcycle safety, drinking and driving, seat belt usage and distracted driving.

Once again it’s time for VFW and Auxiliary scholarships writing contests Patriot’s Pen for sixth through eighth grades and Voice of Democracy for ninth through 12th grades. Upper Sandusky, Carey, Mohawk and Riverdale students interested in writing an essay for consideration may get entry forms online and drop the entries off at either the Upper Sandusky or Carey posts.

Rotary Club helps fund splash pad

A few months ago, the Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky committed to helping fund the first splash pad in the City of Upper Sandusky. The new splash pad constructed in Bicentennial Park will serve residents with a free solution of cooling down during warm days in spring through fall.

Kingwood hosting Pumpkin Glow

MANSFIELD — Kingwood Center Gardens has announced the 2018 Great Pumpkin Glow, presented by OhioHealth, from 5-10 p.m. Oct. 20 and 5-9 p.m. Oct. 21. Enjoy this family-friendly event with over 1,000 lit pumpkins, harvest decor throughout the grounds, the Lil’ Carvers Carnival, Scarecrow Row, hay rides, food trucks, live music and more.
