The Catholic Ladies of Columbia/CLC Life Insurance presented a charitable donation to the Wyandot County Council on Aging to purchase new equipment, including new lighting fixtures, paint, magnifiers, books shelves and storage equipment.

The third annual Carey Area Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-off to benefit the Lois Kurtz Memorial Scholarship Fund is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Carey school cafeteria. Enter a secret chili or soup recipe or sample all the recipes and vote for a favorite.

Free Cooking classes and free groceries are available to adults who participate in the Ohio State University Extension Cooking Matters series. The Cooking Matters series is a free six-week program held at the Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 8-Nov. 12

The deadline to enter the fourth annual Jacob Davidson Memorial Big Buck Contest for Wyandot and adjacent counties is 11:59 p.m. Sept. 27. The scoring event is April 4, 2020. Entry is a $20 donation and 50% of proceeds from the event go toward prize money and additional proceeds will benefit the Jacob Davidson Memorial Scholarship.

The Celebrate Fairhaven Volunteer Service Group’s 39th annual Harvest Fest is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26, at 850 Marseilles Ave., Upper Sandusky. A live auction is 10:30-11:30 a.m., a bake sale is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a celebrate Fairhaven video will be shown 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch is available from 11:30-1 p.m. and a raffle closes at 12:30 p.m. Entertainment is from 1-1:30 p.m. Campus tours also will be available.

Adults are invited to bring their friends, some card or board games, and snacks to share at the Upper Sandusky Community Library’s first Game Night for Grown-Ups at 6 p.m. Thursday. The library will provide some games and plenty of space for an evening of fun.

BEREA — Matt McLane, of Upper Sandusky, was among 32 men’s soccer players who participated in Baldwin Wallace University’s study abroad program in Costa Rica, a transformative learning experience during the spring 2019 semester.

FINDLAY — The expressive and fantastical paintings and wooden sculptures of Harry Melroy are now on display through Sept. 20 at the University of Findlay’s Lea Gallery in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. The Lea Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
