FINDLAY — Eric Vackert was hoping he would not be compared to former NFL coach Marv Levy after Thursday night’s district volleyball match. Thanks to Carey’s turnaround midway through the second set of its Division IV district final Thursday night, that won’t happen.

FINDLAY — If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Riverdale’s Reygan Frey took that to heart in Wednesday’s Division III district semifinal soccer match when, after being stopped the first time on a one-on-one with the Van Buren keeper, took advantage of the same scenario the second time. A move around the diving keeper allowed her to place the ball in the net to help give the Falcons a 1-0 victory.

On Nov. 7, the Wyandot County Board of Development Disabilities/Angeline is requesting an additional 1.5-mill levy for a five-year period, beginning in 2017 and first due in the 2018 calender year.

FINDLAY — Carey faced a 2-1 deficit and then a 13-11 hole in the fifth set against Arlington, but Blue Devils coach Eric Vackert said he remained confident. Carey showed why. It won the last two sets, including the final four points of the fifth set to rally for a 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 15-13 victory Monday night against Arlington in a Division IV district semifinal match at Findlay High School.

The Wyandot County Historical Society was honored on Oct. 14 to host members of the McConnell family whose ancestors constructed, lived in and donated the Beery/McConnell House to the Society for use as a museum. Seven members of the family traveled from Illinois and Florida to view the recent restorations and changes to the site.

LIMA — Upper Sandusky gave up three goals in the final 19 minutes of the first half, and that was more than enough for Lima Shawnee to take a 4-0 victory in a Division II sectional final girls soccer match Saturday at Shawnee. The district No. 3 seed Indians (10-4-3) advance to take on No. 2 Elida at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elida.
